A promising start for the Saskatoon Blades Wednesday night was erased by a goaltender change and momentum change as the Swift Current Broncos rallied for a 6-3 victory.

The result moves Speedy Creek within three points of the Bridge City Bunch in the East Division standings, while the Blue and Gold’s Magic Number to clinch a W-H-L Eastern Conference playoff spot remains at five points. The Blades got goals from three defencemen on five shots to open the contest, prompting the Broncos to switch goaltenders from Reid Dyck to Joey Rocha. Swift Current responded with a goal eight seconds after that and kept on scoring, netting six straight while Rocha made 20 saves without allowing a goal as Speedy Creek’s record improved to 32-25-2. Jack Kachkowski, Grayden Siepmann and Jordan Martin supplied the goals for 31-21-7 Saskatoon while Willy James chipped in with two assists. The Broncos out-shot the Bridge City Bunch 32-25 as the Blue and Gold also made a goaltender switch during the game. Evan Gardner saw his first action in over a month due to a Lower Body injury, replacing Ethan McCallum in his 12th straight start in goal. The Blades’ next action is a home-and-home series with the arch-rival Raiders – Friday in Prince Albert and Saturday at SaskTel Centre.
