Today is the 60th anniversary of Canada’s flag. The maple leaf design was introduced by George F-G Stanley in 1965.
On Tuesday, all five of Canada’s living former prime ministers released a joint statement, encouraging Canadians everywhere to fly their flags and show their pride today, Flag Day.
Although every February 15th brings Flag Day, showing symbols of Canadian pride will have a whole new meaning this year in light of President Donald Trump’s threats of tariffs and making Canada the 51st American State.
A Leger poll published this week found Trump’s threats are driving a swell of national pride, with 85 per cent of the country saying they are proud to be Canadian.
