Are you a talented baker or do you know someone who is?
Those who think they have what it takes to compete against pastry chefs from across the country are invited to take part in an open casting call for the Great Canadian Baking Show in Saskatoon.
Casting Director Meredith Veats says this is the first time a casting call has been held in Saskatchewan.
“As part of the Great Canadian Baking Show, it is our mission to represent all of Canada through our bakers and their baking. The last few years, since the tail end of Covid, we’ve been visiting different cities as part of this hybrid casting model.”
Veats says they are looking for amateur bakers only. “We are not looking for bakery owners or trained pastry chefs. This is really a competition and celebration of the home bakers in the country.”
Bakers must be 19 year of age or older, and they are asked to bring with them a dish that best represents who they are as a chef.
“If you are someone who’s known for incredible loaves of bread, bring that. Something that really represents you and the baker that you are, bring that to the open casting call and that is really your ticket inside.”
If selected to take part in the nationally televised baking competition, bakers will be flown to Toronto, all travel and accommodation expenses paid.
Veats says her crew will be at the Delta Hotel Downtown on Tuesday, January 28th. Interested bakers can get more details here.
