Crews battled the blaze in the early morning hours of December 31st—managing to save a nearby building.

Pelly is a village of about 300 people located an hour northeast of Yorkton.

The mayor of Pelly says no one was injured in the blaze. Trevor Auchstatter says it is a major loss for the community, especially for the elderly residents who were regular shoppers.

Auchstaetter, who also serves on the local fire department, says at this point, the cause of the blaze has yet to be determined, though they know it started at the back of the building.
