The new Regina General Hospital Parkade opens tomorrow, with its 1,005 parking spaces for patients, visitors and staff.
There are 320 public parking spaces on the ground level and 685 spaces for staff on the remaining three levels.
This is an increase in total of 686 parking stalls.
Parking fees and payment systems remain the same as prior to the construction of the new parkade.
SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister David Marit points out that the safety features include cameras and motion-sensor lighting and a duress system on all levels, for a quick way to call RGH Protective Services for help in an emergency or safety concern.
Additionnal features include a stall count display at the entrances, showing the number of available spaces and six pay-by-use electric vehicle charging stations for staff and four for visitors.
The total investment from the provincial government for the parkade’s construction is $22.4 million.
