The Saskatoon Police Service is asking for input from the public to locate a suspect wanted in connection to two stabbings in the last week.
Last Wednesday at approximately 8:50 a.m. police were called to the 100 block of Avenue T South for a report of an injured person. Initial information stated someone had been stabbed. A male was taken to hospital and the suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Monday, last night, at approximately 11:55 p.m., police were called to the 100 block of Avenue U South for a report of an injured person. Officers located a female suffering from injuries consistent with a stab wound; she was transported to hospital and victims in both instances suffered what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Twenty-four-year-old Dakota Douglas Halkett is the suspect in both stabbings and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Halkett faces charges relating to aggravated assault, assault, and failure to comply with court ordered conditions.
The Saskatoon Police Service asks anyone with information on Dakota Halkett’s whereabouts to not approach him yourself but contact police at 306-975-8300, or submit a tip anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
