It’s my Parting Shot for catch-up time, not ketchup time, with The Fearless Predictor – plus Week 11 C-F-L picks…..
Once again, I asked you to trust that I would be honest and truthful with my prognostications while away the previous two weeks with some time off. I’m proving that, by way of review, that I was 2-2 in Week 8, 2-2 in Week 9 and 3-1 in Week 10 – the only miss being the one that everyone didn’t see coming, a 22-22 tie between the Riders and Ottawa! On to Week 11…..
…starting with Ottawa at Calgary tonight, a re-match from three weeks ago when the RedBlacks handily licked the visiting Stamps. Since then, Ottawa has lost starting quarterback Dru Brown to injury with Jeremiah Masoli making his long-awaited return to action after being injured for almost all of the last two seasons! Calgary is unbeaten at home and winless on the road. They’ll finally lose at home tonight, RedBlacks by about a field goal!
Tomorrow, it’s Saskatchewan at home to Montreal in a battle of the C-F-L’s division leaders. The Roughriders welcome Trevor Harris back to the fold from injury while Cody Fajardo is available to the Alouettes. I’m leary of Harris being able to play the entire game without some sort of setback while the Als are the class of the league. I’ve got Montreal by less than a field goal!
Saturday has Edmonton in Hamilton. A pair of 2-7 teams that are in the basement of their respective divisions, but have made some progress towards escaping over the last month. However, the key to the Elks resurgence, Canadian quarterback Tre Ford is doubtful to play while Taylor Powell takes over the Ticats controls from future hall-of-famer Bo Levi Mitchell. If Ford can’t go, McLeod Bethel-Thompson has to perform – and he will. Elks by more than a touchdown!
That leaves Sunday’s return to the C-F-L for Nathan Rourke at quarterback as stumbling B-C welcomes Winnipeg. Is it too much for the Lions and their fans to expect too much from Rourke right away? The Leos should have revenge on their minds after being blanked two weeks ago by the Bombers, but I’m picking Winnipeg by less than a field goal!
My overall season record is treading water just above .500 at 22-18 – or 55 per cent! That’s not performance – yet!!
By the way, the trust thing is back in play for the next two weeks as The Fearless Predictor will be back in time for The Banjo Bowl!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
