The number of people with jobs across the country was virtually unchanged from May to June, according to Statistics Canada. Year-over-year, employment was up by 343,000 jobs last month or 1.7 per cent, but the overall unemployment rate was also on the rise, by 0.2 per cent to 6.4 per cent in June.
In Saskatchewan the May to June unemployment rate dropped by 0.1 per cent at 5.5 per cent, but year-over-year, the rate rose by 0.6 per cent. On the other side of the coin, from May to June, the employment rate was also lower by 0.1 per cent at 63.6 per cent and year-over-year, it was a decrease of three per cent.
