There are over 160 entries for the Pride Parade in downtown Saskatoon tomorrow (Sat). Co-chair of Saskatoon Pride, Mike McCoy, says they have had more entries than ever before.
McCoy adds, that as always with the parade, there is a festival and market in the park afterwards in Friendship Park and River Landing, which will also be bigger than ever. The parade begins at noon, which is an hour earlier than past years, so for anyone who plans to be downtown tomorrow, this is a reminder that there will be detours.
The theme this year is ‘Show the Many Colours of Pride’. Instead of one, there are eight Grand Marshals, who will each march with the groups they identify with. Along with Friday’s events for Pride Week, there are a few different celebrations tomorrow (Sat) night and then Sunday, the final day of Pride Week in Saskatoon, there will be a few more events including a pancake brunch at Friendship Park.
Saskatoon Pride says on its website, “There’s room for us all and our rights in the rainbow that is humanity. And we’re not giving ground.”
