The Regina Police Service has provided an update on one of their officers who was accidentally shot by a fellow officer during the execution of a search warrant describing his injuries as serious and life changing.
Eight people were charged in Regina with forcible confinement and assault in connection to the incident. Regina Police previously reported an injured man, who was treated and released from hospital, was found in the area of 4th Avenue and Robinson Street on April 25th. Police obtained a search warrant for the following day and that is when the accidental shooting occurred.
Regina Police say the injured officer is a husband and father of two young children and while he has been discharged from hospital, he has a long road to recovery.
The Regina Police Service Major Crimes Unit is investigating this incident. The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is monitoring this investigation.
