Federal and provincial governments as well as the Prince Albert Grand Council have announced an investment of more than $1.4 million to support Indigenous led police services.
In October 2022, PAGC and both levels of government announced a public Safety Implementation Team within Prince Albert Grand Council and their work would help design and determine the costs for a feasibility study.
This latest funding announcement will allow the PAGC to move to a feasibility study by conducting community safety needs analysis. That will be achieved through engagement sessions with all communities within the Prince Albert Grand Council. PAGC represents 12 First Nations made up of 28 communities in northern Saskatchewan.
