The eye in the sky was used early Sunday morning around 2:20am to apprehend two people believed to be involved with a break and enter on the 1900 block of McKercher Drive. The Air Support Unit provided directions to officers on the ground who arrested two male youths, aged 16 and 15. The pair are charged with break and enter, and theft over $5,000. The 15-year-old is also charged with breaching court ordered conditions.
A couple of hours later, officers attempted a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle at 19th Street West and Avenue J. After stopping momentarily, the vehicle sped away. The Air Support Unit followed the vehicle to a parking lot where the vehicle was surrounded on the ground. A 30-year-old man is charged with evading police, dangerous driving, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
The last incident was a weapons complaint that occurred at 2:20am on Monday. While heading to the scene, officers were informed by the Air Support Unit that it observed a man matching the suspect’s description. The suspect was arrested, and police say they found a pocket knife in his jacket. A 33-year-old man is charged with carrying a weapon dangerous to the public and for failing to comply with court ordered conditions.
