Damage is estimated at $5,000 after a dryer fire at a home in Sutherland last night.
The call came in a few minutes before 10:00 p.m. from the 100 block of 105th Street West and those inside reported they were evacuating.
When firefighters arrived, they could see smoke coming from the front of the two-storey condo unit. A dryer fire with flame showing was put out by firefighters using a water pump tank. It took about 10 minutes to bring the fire under control.
One male was checked for smoke inhalation by Medavie paramedics but was not taken to hospital. No one else needed medical attention but the occupants were temporarily re-housed due to smoke in the unit.
The Fire Investigator has ruled the cause of the fire was mechanical failure.
