The Official Opposition Leader is calling on the Premier to fire Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill. Carla Beck says Cockrill has repeatedly misled the public, most recently when he said he had apologized to a grieving mother whose daughter passed away.
Last week, Taya Thomas told the NDP that when she was talking to Cockrill he asked if Saskatchewan teachers expected him to “give up his first-born child”. Reporters asked if he was going to apologize, but he said he already had. Thomas says it isn’t true.
Beck adds that Cockrill also told the media last year that the government’s pronoun policy was informed by widespread consultation with tens of thousands of concerned citizens.
From Freedom of information requests, the NDP says there were 18 letters.
