This weekend is 4/20 (four-twenty). April 20th has been a date set aside since the early ’70s to mark the use of marijuana and SGI wants to remind Saskatchewan residents that any plans for a celebration should include a way to get home safe.
In a news release SGI says that Canadian police have roadside oral fluid testing devices they can administer to any driver suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.
If a driver fails the test, then their license is suspended for at least three days, there is a three-day vehicle impoundment and four demerits. They would also have to take a two-day “Driving Without Impairment” class. The license suspension is more severe for a Novice, a Learner and anyone age 21 and under.
