In response to the federal government capping the number of international students approved to study in Saskatchewan at 12,000, the province is now allowing for 15,054 undergraduate or college-level study permit applications.
Advanced Education Minister Gordon Wyant says he appreciates “IRCC increasing its allocation for Saskatchewan, as international students play a key role in maintaining economic growth and are a critical component to helping meet our labour market needs.”
This move, which came into effect April 1st, takes the province’s historical acceptance rate into account as well, and could result in a total of 7,200 study permits for the year.
