Last year, Saskatchewan’s population grew by 30,624 people, which is the biggest rise in a single year since 1914. Statistics Canada reports that the province has reached an all-time high of 1,225,493. Premier Scott Moe says, “A growing province means more good jobs and opportunities for Saskatchewan people.”
As of the beginning of this year, Canada’s population had grown to 40, 769. 890. That’s a 3.2 per cent rise from 2022, which Statistic’s Canada says is the highest annual growth rate next to 1957’s increase of 3.3 per cent.
Last year’s increase stems mostly from temporary immigration. If that wasn’t factored in, relying on permanent immigration and natural increase through births minus deaths, the increase would have been 1.2 per cent.
