The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has announced a one-day province wide strike this Wednesday followed by two days of withdrawing supervision of extracurricular activities.
The one-day strike coincides with the announcement of the provincial budget. The STF says in a news release that more than 4,000 teachers will deliver a strong message to government at the Legislative Building in Regina. There will also be demonstrations in other locations in the province.
Thursday and Friday teachers are not providing voluntary services attached to extracurricular activities which includes the high school basketball championship in Moose Jaw – or HOOPLA – and the Optimist Band Festival in Regina.
Monday and Tuesday there will be a withdrawal of noon hour supervision for all schools in the following school divisions: North East, Prairie Spirit, Regina Catholic, Christ the Teacher, Good Spirit, Ile-a-la-Crosse, Northern Lights, Prairie South, Southeast Cornerstone, Sun West, Living Sky, Light of Christ Catholic and Sakewew High School in North Battleford.
