Emails, emails and more emails. I spend too darn much time sifting through emails. Some mornings the junk folder has 40 or 50 that I feel I need to scan in case there are any legitimate messages that made their way in there, and quite often there are a couple that need to be moved over to the inbox. Then I need to go through the dozens sitting in the inbox to see of any might require attention sooner rather than later. And when I think I’ve seen just about every type of email I could imagine I get one or two unsolicited emails that make me stop and think, or at least go “Hmmm”. Here’s one from last week that caught my eye and triggered me to read further instead of immediately deleting, because it starts with “An estimated 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail by March”. I figured as much but tell me more. Here’s another one that opens with “The shocking dangers of driving with stuffed pockets!”. That’s a new one and of course I had to read on about how having a wallet, smartphone, or any other bulky item in our back pocket while driving can lead to significant back problems over time according to the International Drivers Association. Speaking of driving, here’s another email about “How our parking habits are slowly wrecking our cars”. I’m compelled to read on because that’s never crossed my mind. The list goes on and I haven’t mentioned the never-ending emails from people who want to do a business deal or from Eastern European women (supposedly) who want to strike up a relationship. I may have been born in the dark, but it wasn’t last night.
That’s Coffeetalk. I’m Vic Dubois.
