Results from a new TD survey suggest that young adults are becoming more common victims of social media scams, however they seem to be too embarrassed to admit it.
According to the survey, nearly 41 percent of people ages 18-34 have fallen victim to financial fraud, whereas not even a third of those over the age of 34 have been affected.
On top of that, 43 per cent of 18–34-year-olds said they would be too embarrassed to tell someone if they were a victim of such a fraud.
TD spokesperson Sophia Leung reassures that financial schemes are becoming more sophisticated all the time, so falling victim to one is nothing to be embarrassed about. She reminds people, young and old, to be aware of potential threats to protect themselves from fraud attempts in the future.
