As another year comes to an end and I’m another year older I like to ponder some of the things I have learned about life. For example, getting older isn’t so bad when you consider the alternative. There are things money can’t buy: manners, morals, character, respect, common sense, trust, patience, class, integrity, love. Always trust your gut instincts. If you genuinely feel something is wrong, it usually is. Worry never solves anything. Set a good example for your children. They are watching you live, and what you do speaks louder than what you say. Be the kind of guy you would want your daughter to be with. There is no vaccine for stupidity. Modern fairy tales don’t begin with Once Upon a Time; they begin with “If Elected, I Promise”. Everything is temporary, so if things are going well, enjoy it, because it won’t last forever. And if things are going bad, don’t worry, because it won’t last forever. True friends won’t grow apart even if we don’t talk very often. Your health is your real wealth. Keep a sense of humour. Be kind. Be honest. Be thankful. When one door closes, another door usually opens. Everything happens for a reason. Don’t be ashamed of a scar. It simply means you’re stronger than whatever caused it. I no longer have the energy for forced interactions and meaningless conversations. I’ve reached a point in my life where it’s no longer necessary to try to impress. If they like me the way I am, that’s good. If they don’t, too bad. Happy New Year, and I’ll talk to you in 2024.
That’s Coffeetalk, I’m Vic Dubois.
