People living in Regina are encouraged to help choose an official bird for the city.
From Thursday until October 22nd, nominations can be made at Regina.ca/bird.
Manager of Open Space Services, Russell Eirich, says the project stems from the decision to establish Regina as a Bird Friendly City by preserving the area’s natural habitat. In March of last year, through the work of Regina’s Bird Friendly City Committee, Regina was officially declared a Bird City through Nature Canada’s Bird Friendly City Program.
The initial nomination process will gather bird suggestions, and then The Bird Friendly City Committee will review the nominations and present the top five for a final vote by residents in December.
