One of the students involved in a $25 million class action lawsuit against the former Christian Centre Academy, Caitlin Erickson, has posted on social media that a former coach now living in Edmonton has pleaded guilty to sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a minor from his time at the school. Forty-six-year-old Aaron Benneweis worked at the Saskatoon school now known as Legacy Christian Academy between 2008 and 2012. He turned himself in to Saskatoon Police on January 31st. His sentencing will be argued on January 4th, 2025 in Provincial Court.
Two former principals, 65-year-old Duff Friesen and 63-year-old John Olubobokun are facing multiple counts of assault with a weapon and 74-year-old Ken Schultz is facing charges of sexual assault and assault with a weapon. As well, about 130 students, including Erickson, have submitted claims in a $25-million class action lawsuit alleging physical and sexual abuse.
