Two people are facing charges after an evade police incident Sunday night. Around 8:30 p.m. officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle in the 100 block of Avenue M South. When police attempted a traffic stop after spotting the stolen vehicle travelling in the area of St. Charles Avenue it fled and began driving erratically.
The vehicle eventually made its way to Clarence Avenue and then Circle Drive before exiting onto Grasswood Road. Tire deflation devices were deployed multiple times before the vehicle drove into the east ditch on highway 219 and Grasswood Road, where the driver then reversed into a police vehicle. Police say the driver exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot before he was apprehended by a canine unit officer.
The 47-year-old male driver is charged with Assault with a Weapon, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Dangerous Driving, Evade Police, Theft, and Possession of Break and Enter Tools. The 39-year-old female passenger is charged with Theft of Motor Vehicle and Possession of Break and Enter Tools.
