The Saskatchewan RCMP is reminding drivers to make sure their headlights, taillights, and signal lights are functioning every time they get in the vehicle.
Since the beginning of 2023, Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan issued 254 charges and 2615 warnings to Saskatchewan drivers for violations involving the misuse of these lights.
For example, 74 charges and 1427 warnings were given for inadequate headlights. In addition, 127 charges and 917 warnings were issued for inadequate brake lights, and 15 charges and 73 warnings for inadequate vehicle turn signals were given.
Thirty-eight charges and 198 warnings were given to those pulling trailers for inadequate brake lights or turn signals.
Of the drivers pulled over for inoperable lights, 480 of them were given vehicle defect inspection notices to have the problem repaired and to report it to an RCMP detachment to confirm completion.
