The expectation for fall, outlined by Environment Canada at the beginning of the month, was wildfire smoke would be with us in some form until the snow flies.
And it is proving true.
There is a special air quality statement in effect for a large portion of Saskatchewan to kick off the new work week. Smoke from Alberta wildfires is expected to start moving out of the affected regions by Tuesday morning. The advisory stretches from Lloydminster through the Battlefords to Prince Albert including Saskatoon and area and south through Kindersley, Rosetown, Biggar, Outlook, Watrous and all the way north through Isle-a-la-Crosse to Uranium City.
The hotspot in Saskatchewan yesterday was Moose Jaw at 32.5 degrees. It was also the hot spot in Canada. Prince Albert reached a daytime high of 29.9 degrees on Sunday, Regina at 31.6 degrees and Saskatoon 31.4 degrees Celsius.
Right now, in Saskatchewan there are 27 wildfires and two are considered out of control.
