Even though they sent out a notice to the public, the Prince Albert Police Service’s school zone enforcement initiative from last week resulted in several violations.
Statistics from Prince Albert Police Service showed 39 school zone speeding tickets were handed out, plus 99 warnings, six other Traffic Safety Act fines and two vehicle seizures.
On September 1, school zones came into effect in Prince Albert – meaning the maximum speed in any school zone is 30 kilometres per hour, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Plus, U-turns in school zones are prohibited. The school zones remain in effect until June 30.
