Paqui is recalling their 2023 One Chip Challenge after severe adverse effects were reported from people attempting the challenge. The package contains a single chip that is made from Carolina Reaper and Naga Viper peppers.

The Texas-based manufacturer pulled the product from shelves in Canada and the U-S after a 14-year-old American died while attempting to complete the challenge.

The social media craze pushes participants to eat the chip and then see how long they can go without drinking water or eating other food afterward.

An autopsy is pending, but the teen’s parents are blaming the chip.
