As part of its cross-country journey from west to east, the Indian Residential School Memorial Monument has made a stop at Saskatchewan’s RCMP Headquarters in Regina. There will be a monument ceremony held from 10:30am-11:30am on Saturday.
The monument, which is 18-feet tall and 7,000 pounds, was created by master carver Stanley Hunt in memory of all the Indigenous children who attended residential schools.
The massive carving began its journey in Port Hardy, British Columbia, and will end up in the Canadian Museum of History in Gatineau, Quebec.
