It was complete domination by the Huskies from start to finish, scoring on their first possession of the game and adding two more in the first quarter for an early 21-0 lead, and they didn’t look back. Quarterback Anton Amundrud threw for 391 yards completing 29 of 40 passes for 4 touchdown passes, three of them to his number one target Rhett Varva on route to a 40-6 victory in front of a home attendance record of 10,054.

Defense put on a show during the first half of the game, with the Huskies never allowing Regina to pass midfield, and never registering a first down in the first quarter, but was able to grab 8 at the half. It doesn’t come close to the Huskies however, with 19 first down conversions at the half and the offence coming out of the gate hot.
Quarterback Anton Amundrud first connected with Branson Pipko on a 12 yard pass to opening the scoring on the Dogs first possession of the game, and would end up connection to Rhett Vavra three times in the first half to extend the lead to 28-0. Kicker David Solie wrapped up the first half with a 13 yard field goal and a comfortable 31-0 lead.
Amundrud fell just shy of the 300 yard passing mark at the half, with 281 yards and an impressive 4 touchdown passes while Rams quarterback Noah Pelletier only managed 78 yards against a sturdy Huskie defense. Speaking of sturdy defense, they were able to get to Rams Quarterback Noah Pelletier for 2 Sacks on the night.
It didn’t take long for Amundrud to reach the 300 yard mark in the second half as they continued to pile on the offence with Ted Kubongo rushing in his first touchdown of the game. Rams Quarterback Noah Pelletier rushed in Regina’s only major of the game cutting the deficit down to 31-6, with backup Bryden O’Flaherty missing on the two-point conversion.
No team found the end zone in the fourth quarter but the Huskies defense remained very strong and with such a lead, it gave backup quarterback Griffin Sander some reps to finish off the game. As dominant as the offence was, defense was a big part of the Huskies success tonight, with Regina turning the ball over five times and four of them coming inside the red zone.
