The Regina Police Service reports that the homeless encampment outside City Hall has been decommissioned.
Yesterday just after 1:30pm, those in the area were asked to vacate multiple times by the Regina Police Service and Regina Fire and Protective Services, and while the majority of the crowd complied, 11 arrests were made for Obstructing a Peace Officer and one for Assaulting a Police Officer.
The 11 people were transported to the RPS Detention Unit. It is unclear if charges will be laid, but those arrested were expected to be let go Friday night. RPS officers have been working since June 15, to connect those at the encampment to support services.
The encampment was ordered by Regina Fire and Protective Services to be decommissioned due to an imminent threat to public safety.
