On Sunday at 11:10 am, Cut Knife RCMP received a report that a firearm had been discharged on Poundmaker Cree Nation.
Through investigation, RCMP determined that a man had approached a house and discharged a firearm, striking a parked vehicle. The man also threatened an occupant of the home, but no injuries were reported to police. Cut Knife RCMP began looking for the man, and located him at a residence on Little Pine First Nation at 3:45 p.m. He assaulted a police officer during his arrest. The officer was not seriously injured.
Fifty-one-year-old Terrance Favel from Poundmaker Cree Nation is facing 12 charges and was scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Monday.
Favel’s charges include:
– one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession is unauthorized,
– one count, using a firearm in the commission of an offence,
– two counts, mischief under $5,000,
– one count, mischief over $5,000,
– one count, uttering threats against a person,
– one count, careless use of a firearm,
– one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose,
– one count, resist/obstruct peace officer,
– one count, weapons possession contrary to order,
– one count, discharge firearm while being reckless,
– one count, assault police officer
