A 15-year member of the Saskatoon Police Service appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court today charged with Common Assault.
The Saskatoon Police Service says the charge was laid after an on-duty altercation. On May 4 Constable Jody Levesque was responding to a reported stabbing when he located a suspect near the location of the incident.
The suspect alleges an assault occurred during the arrest and a public complaint was later made which led to the charge against the Constable.
The officer is currently assigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of court proceedings and an administrative review under the Police Act.
Meanwhile, the suspect was charged with Aggravated Assault and Breach of Court Conditions as a result of the stabbing incident.
