An update to Thursday’s fatal collision between a bus and a semi truck near Carberry, Manitoba has been provided by the Manitoba RCMP.
Superintendent Rob Lasson says although the 10 survivors have been identified, the 15 deceased cannot be visually identified due to facial injury. Scientific identification on the deceased will now take place, with hopes of concluding by the middle of next week. The identification will be done either with fingerprint analysis, dental records, or DNA comparison with family members or personal items as a last resort. The age range of those in the bus was between 58 and 88 years old. RCMP officers spoke to every single family on Thursday night and have set up a second family support centre. There is now one in Dauphin and one in Winnipeg.
Lasson asks the public to be sensitive and patient when it comes to the release of new information.
