The Gaming Framework Agreement between the Government of Saskatchewan and The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations will be undergoing several changes.
The GFA underlines terms for First Nations gamming development in the province, and the operation of First Nations casinos. Chief Bobby Cameron says there four main changes in the new agreement. They include an additional 200 slot machines made available for the Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority, increased regulatory opportunities for Indigenous Gaming Regulators, added opportunities for the FSIN to suggest VLT sites on-reserve without affecting SIGAs slot machine allocation, and $250,000 more per year for the First Nations Addictions and Rehabilitation Foundation.
Chief Cameron adds that these changes have the potential to generate $1 million-$2 million annually for the 72 First Nations. He says that when First Nation’s bring in revenue, they spend it in Saskatchewan towns and cities, and, in turn, the province succeeds, as well. The Gaming Framework Agreement is reviewed every five years.
