A drilling company out of Weyburn has been given $56,000 in fines after being charged for violating several Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
At the end of May, Rebel Drilling Limited attended Weyburn Provincial Court for one charge of failure to provide necessary information, instruction, training, and supervision to workers, resulting in the serious injury of a worker. The company was also charged with failure to ensure only trained operators are required or permitted to operate powered mobile equipment, also resulting in a seriously injured worker. For each charge they were fined $20,000 with a surcharge of $8,000 for that violation. The incidents happened in January of 2021.
