Beauval RCMP have located and arrested three people that were believed involved in an attempted murder.
On Saturday at 11:00am, RCMP responded to the report of a shooting at a house in Beauval. Police say a 20-year-old man was taken to hospital by EMS after being severely injured by multiple gunshot wounds.
Through video surveillance, officers discovered a black Chevrolet Equinox SUV was seen at the house with a woman and two men inside. The vehicle was spotted travelling on Highway 155 towards Beauval at 1:00pm, and a pursuit ensued. A large duffle bag was thrown out the window and two kilometres later the vehicle came to a halt after driving over a spike belt.
Three people fled into nearby bushes. Police say the duffle bag contained two firearms and the three suspects were apprehended around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday.
Twenty-six-year-old Clayton Ahenakew and 27-year-old Prosper Gardiner from Ile a La Crosse, as well as 26-year-old Jaylena Lafleaur from Meadow Lake are each facing 12 charges, including attempted murder. All three people made their first court appearance on Monday in Meadow Lake.
Charges include attempted murder, two counts of transporting a firearm in a careless manner, two counts of possessing a firearm without a license, two counts of being an occupant in a vehicle and knowing there was a firearm in said vehicle, possess a loaded and prohibited firearm without authorization, two counts possess a firearm knowing that it was obtained by crime, two counts possess a firearm knowing the serial number had been removed.
Prosper Gardiner faced additional charges for the possession of a firearm while prohibited and breach of probation.
