Two people from Regina were arrested yesterday after police discovered multiple weapons in their vehicle.
Saturday morning at 5:30, Regina Police officers located a suspicious vehicle in an alley in the 1700 block of Quebec Street. Police say a woman was in the driver seat and a man was standing outside the passenger door. Police say they observed a can of pepper spray in the front passenger seat, and the pair was arrested on a weapons offence. After further investigation, a sawed-off shotgun and drugs were found in the vehicle. Thirty-one-year-old Kiri Haider is facing 9 charges and 29-year-old Cody Cardinal faces 6. The two will make their first appearance in provincial court Monday.
Haider and Cardinal’s charges include Carry a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number Has Been Tampered With, and Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regs-Careless Storage of Firearm.
Haider is also charged with two counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Possession of a Scheduled Substance.
