The Saskatoon Police Service says they were called over the lunch hour on Monday to the 200 block of Avenue D South about a suspicious person who’d been seen going through vacant properties.
When officers arrived they saw a man matching the description provided by the caller but when they tried to stop the suspect police say he began to walk away and was holding an expandable baton.
The Saskatoon Police Service says the suspect’s manner became aggressive and he also appeared to be holiding a knife. A conducted Energy Weapon was deployed and a 27 year old man was taken into custody.
The accused is charged with Threatening to Assault a Police Officer while Carrying a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Breach of Conditions. A baton and a multi-tool (containing a knife) was recovered at the scene.
