If you check out the Highway Hotline Saturday, you might be wondering just what happened in some of the southern areas of the province yesterday.
There were reports of travel not recommended as well as roads ice covered and heavy snow or slush. There was even a secondary highway outside of Regina closed this morning.
Environment Canada meteorologist Eric Dykes says there were a couple of things which transpired on Friday and they’re both because of the same feature – a warm front that is moving into Saskatchewan.
As he warm was approaching it was bringing in snow and the winds were kicking up out of the south to 60 kilometres per hour causing snow and blowing snow in addition to fog on Saturday.
There is likely a 30 per cent chance of precipitation in Saskatchewan, for the most part today. And he says while a high of 21 is forecast for Tuesday that is only achievable if all the snow were melted first so they will probably adjust that downward to the mid-teens. He says temperatures in the mid-teens are still well above normal around 10 degrees for this time of year.
