The CEO of formerly Tourism Regina, now Experience Regina, has apologized via Twitter.
Tim Reid stated that he wanted to apologize for the negative impact they created with the recent re-brand launch.
In a social media post scheduled to coincide with the launch of the new branding, the official Experience Regina Facebook page drew on the fact that Regina rhymes with vagina. One of the slogans was “The city that rhymes with fun. Show us your Regina”.
There have been calls for the resignation of Reid from the board for Experience Regina and REAL.
Criticism of the phrasing, which has now been removed, described it as “misogynistic and embarrassing” and “promotes sexism”. This morning, when you go to the Experience Regina website you see the phrase “while the land may be flat, we are anything but.”
