Saskatoon Police used a taser early Monday morning during a domestic dispute in the 1600 Block of Avenue C North.

A call was received at 3:15am saying a man at the residence was armed with a knife. Upon arrival, officers found a 32-year-old man acting in an erratic manner and threatening self-harm.

Attempts to de-escalate the situation failed and an officer deployed a conducted energy weapon. When that was unsuccessful and the man continued to disobey officer commands, less lethal options were used to take him into custody.

The man was charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. He was then transported to hospital for further assessment.
