The province’s latest report on flu, RSV and COVID-19 states that between February 12th and the 25th, there were seven COVID deaths and they were all 60 or older. There were no deaths from RSV or influenza.
The number of people admitted to hospital and to an ICU is similar to the prior two-week period for both COVID and RSV. Fifty-four people admitted to the hospital tested positive for COVID-19, including six in an ICU. Thirty-nine people with RSV were admitted to the hospital, with six in an ICU. RSV cases have trended down over the past month, but the test positivity rate remains high at around 12 per cent, and over half of the cases are among preschool aged children.
The flu was on the increase in the reporting period, with the first cases of Influenza type B showing up, which is typically seen late in the flu season, most often in March and April. However, the test positivity rate remains low at 1 per cent.
