A 40-year-old woman is facing aggravated assault charges against an elderly man in Prince Albert.

Officers were called to a multi-unit residential building in the 700 block of 1st Avenue East at approximately 7:30 on Monday evening.

Police say the woman gained access to the building and threatened residents with a knife before the 89-year old man was assaulted.

The suspect fled on foot and she was arrested about an hour later at a nearby intersection.

The elderly man was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
