The CJWW Secret Santa campaign has officially begun for another year, with the official launch today (Tues) at City Hall. The Saskatoon Carolling Firefighters sang a song and Mayor Charlie Clark donated the first toy of the season. Board President of the Secret Santa Foundation, and General Manager of Saskatoon Media Group, Vic Dubois says the goal is simple – it’s to help the less fortunate. The campaign accepts cash donations and new, unwrapped toys for children 12 and under. Dubois explains that the Salvation Army takes care of choosing the families, and hands over the list to CJWW’s Secret Santa. Food hampers for the 800 families and toys for the children will be handed out on December 20th.
Secret Santa was founded by the late radio personality Denny Carr, who wanted to ensure that all children in Saskatoon receive a new toy at Christmas. Executive Director of the Secret Santa Foundation, Katelyn Bruce, says, “This year more than ever we are recognizing that our community really needs our support, so for anyone looking to help, whether that’s through cash donations, toy donations, or looking to help to support the cause, that’s what we are looking for this season.” Cash donations are accepted through the Secret Santa Foundation’s website and the list of locations for dropping off a toy is below.
