Traffic started flowing Tuesday afternoon through the 60th Street East and Faithfull Avenue area after an evade police investigation ended in a crash Tuesday morning.
The incident began around 7:45 a.m. when Saskatoon Police Service officers attempted to perform a traffic stop near the intersection of Avenue I North and Howell Avenue.
The vehicle didn’t stop and fled the area. Shortly after that, the same vehicle was spotted driving past police at a high rate of speed into the intersection of 60th Street East and Faithfull Avenue, at which point the vehicle collided with a semi-truck.
The two men inside attempted to flee the area, but two suspects were soon arrested nearby without further incident. They were treated for minor injuries by Medavie Health Services.
Police confirmed the vehicle was stolen and seized a club, machete, fixed blade knife and shotgun ammunition inside.
Another call came in to police after a passerby found a discarded shotgun near the intersection of 51st Street and Idylwyld Drive. Police believe it was thrown from the vehicle before the collision.
Two men, age 30 and 53, face numerous weapons-related charges while the 30-year-old driver is also charged with dangerous driving, evade police and possession of stolen property over $5,000.
