The Saskatoon Police Service Air Support Unit came in handy for tracking down suspects Monday night. Around 10:30 p.m. officers responded to a robbery in the 600 block of Taylor Street East. A traffic stop was unsuccessful and police say the suspect vehicle sped off. The police plane tracked the vehicle to the 2600 block of Meadows Boulevard, where four people abandoned it. Four suspects were located and taken into custody.
Police say officers seized prescription drugs and replica pistols from the vehicle. Charges for two 16 year old boys, and two girls, 17 and 19 years old include armed robbery, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance. One of the 16 year old teens is charged with dangerous driving and evading police.
A few hours later, around 1:30 a.m., patrol officers tried to stop a vehicle heading north on Confederation Driver near 33rd Street. Police say the vehicle took the Circle Drive exit and sped away, but was soon located by the Air Support Unit. Stop sticks were deployed and a 26 year old man was arrested just off Idylwyld Drive and 71st Street. His charges include Dangerous Driving, evading police and breach of conditions.
