The Saskatchewan Health Authority confirms 17 people have been treated for injuries at various hospitals in the province related to Sunday’s stabbings at James Smith Cree Nation and the Village of Weldon. As of 1 this afternoon (Tues), there were ten patients in hospital with three in critical condition and seven in stable condition.
Since Sunday, seven people have discharged.
The SHA says in a news release that it is working on deploying mental health resources to families, communities, physicians and staff who have been impacted. The Health Authority has provided some contact information for mental health supports for those in the northeast most affected by this tragedy, which is below. The SHA is also actively reaching out to Prince Albert Grand Council, James Smith Cree Nation, and other community partners in the area to offer support.
