Around 6:30 Thursday night, Saskatoon RCMP received a report of a canoe that capsized in the Bradwell Reservoir, which is about 1 kilometre southeast of Bradwell.

Investigators have determined an adult man and a five-year-old child were canoeing, when the canoe capsized.

STARS Air Ambulance responded and retrieved the five-year-old from the water, although the child was pronounced dead in hospital.

The man has not been located and a search of the reservoir is on-going with help from the Allan Fire Department, Allan Search and Rescue and Saskatoon Police Air Services.

The public is being asked to avoid the area.
