The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is reporting 12 wildfires in the province, and all of them are in the north. One is considered contained, twelve are under ongoing assessment, and crews are protecting infrastructure in the area around two fires. Both the Gold and Digbee Fires are in the Buffalo Narrows protection area.
The SPSA says the Digbee Fire is about 4 miles or 6.4 kilometres from the Hamlet of Descharme Lake and the majority of residents have voluntarily left the community. There have been 172 fires so far this year, which is less than the five year average of 191.
